Mary Katherine Morris

Mary Kay was born on June 27, 1945 in Bakersfield, California to William Harvey and Katherine Cowden Boyd. They moved to Midland not long after where she graduated from Midland High in 1963. She attended The University of North Texas where she achieved a degree in Art and Industrial Art in 1965. She worked as a graphic artist and draftsman for more than 25 years at Mitchell Energy, Union Oil and others. She went back to Midland College and achieved an Associates of Applied Science in 1997, and eventually retired from Patriot Drilling.

Mary Kay was known for her corny jokes, her hearty laugh, and her love for Jesus. She was a great artist. She painted numerous beautiful oil paintings, made jewelry, clay art and much more. She loved to collect miniatures and figurines. She loved beautiful, elegant things and anything colored pink. She was a mother to Karry and James (Joey) Morris, and grandmother and a caregiver to many, sacrificing much of her life to care for others.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her brother Kenneth Boyd (Uncle Kenny) and her son, Joey. She is survived by her daughter Karry Morris Dronet and husband Damon, Brother William Boyd and wife Ellen, grandchildren Jordan Johnson and Katy Sullivan and husband Cory. She was Gigi to great-grandchildren Kali and Cody Sullivan and had many nieces, nephews, cousins, and great friends. She leaves the legacy of her love for Jesus in everyone she knew.

Memorial Service will be held at Stonegate Fellowship Church (Building C) on Tuesday, May 28 at 2:00 pm. Other services provided by Ellis Resthaven Funeral Home.
