Martha J McNair

Martha Jo McNair joined her family in heaven on September 11, 2024 at the age of 94. Graveside services will be on September 25, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Resthaven Memorial Park, Midland, under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.

Martha was born on January 26, 1930 in O'Donnell, Texas to Walter Harrell and Edna Gertrude Guthrie. After graduation from Andrews High School, she married Patrick Melton McNair of High Springs, Florida, on August 20, 1947. Together they attended Toccoa Falls College in Toccoa, Georgia. Pat and Martha operated businesses throughout West Texas, including Midland Dayton Tire Sales and Odessa Tire Center. Martha served as a church and Sunday school pianist, a member of the handbell choir of First United Methodist Church in Midland, a scout leader, and a member of Beta Sigma Phi. After retirement, Martha and Pat enjoyed extensive travels throughout North America and Europe.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Pat, and granddaughter, Mary Kelly McNair.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kelly and Molly McNair of Fort Worth, her daughter and son-in-law, Julia and Richard Chatwell of Rockport, grandchildren and grandchildren-by-marriage Martin and Dawn McNair of Fort Worth, Richard (Rocky) and Gerel Chatwell of Rockport, and Sarah and Garrett Root of Boise, Idaho.

The greatest joys of her later years have been her great-grandchildren, Emma Claire Root, Ellie Mae Root, and Morgan Andrew McNair.
