Linda was passionate about her job as a postal clerk for the United States Postal Service where she retired after 30 years of service. She processed passports for over 10 years, including during the changes that resulted from 9/11.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking. Everyone who knew her seemed to love her red velvet cake and sweet potatoes.
She had a soft spot for her furry friends Bo and Baby, treating them both like the valuable family members they were.
Linda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She always looked forward to her outings for dinner or to the movies with friends Alana, Mona, Leo, Choy and Ann.
Linda is survived by her son, Joe Lackey of Midland; daughter, Christiana Chatham of Midland; sisters, Earlene Grissom of Athens and Shirley Lantz of Temple; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Clara E. Smith; her adopted father, Earl C. Smith; biological father, Harold A. Hart; and brother, Harold A. Hart, Jr.
No public services are scheduled. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that you consider a memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or Senior Life Midland – Meals on Wheels.
