Leroy Allen Hurt

Leroy Allen Hurt, 86, died on April 30, 2011, at his home in Midland, Texas, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on April 21, 1925 in DeKalb, Texas to William and Effie Jane Hurt. Leroy met and married the love of his life, Myrtis Jo Gaither in DeKalb, Texas on September 2, 1944. He was a member of the Fairmont Church of Christ. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather that instilled a love of the outdoors and nature to all of them. The values he taught them will stand the test of time.

Leroy worked 40 plus years in the West Texas oil fields and retired with Bass Enterprises.

He was preceded in death by his wife Myrtis Jo and numerous brothers and sisters. Leroy is survived by his two daughters: Lauretta Glass and her husband Bradford of Midland, and Donna Cronenworth and her husband Kenneth of Odessa; five grandchildren: Matthew, Becky and Debby Glass and Kindra Moore and Charles Cronenworth. He also leaves four great grandchildren: Alaura, Thylyn, Brennan and Pyper.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice of Midland, Kelli, Patricia, Theresa, and Grace for their kind and loving care. Also thanks to Dr. Robert Vogel for his caring treatment.

The family will received friends on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Ellis Funeral Home from 6 – 8 p.m. Funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Ellis Funeral Home with interment at Resthaven Memorial Park.
