Kenneth Joe Moore, Sr., 64, of San Angelo, Texas, previously a resident of Midland, Texas, passed away peacefully to be with our Heavenly Father on June 23, 2011, surrounded by his family. He was a loving husband who always put his family before himself, finding they were the best medicine for him. Those closest to him were inspired by his humility, strength, compassion, dry wit and kind-heartedness. His greatest joys in life were his grandchildren, fishing, and feeding his wild birds while enjoying the beauty of God’s creation. Kenneth was the youngest of eight children, born in Waco, Texas, in 1947. He retired as a manager from SW Airgas Inc. in August, 2009, after 35 years. His hard work ethic set an example for us all as he continued to persevere despite his physical ailments. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Pat Moore, their three children, Stacy Whiting Geitgey and her husband Jim, Kimberlie Stellman and her husband Nicholas, and Ken Moore Jr. and his wife Kristy, and their seven grandchildren: Derek Brian Whiting, Kenneth Chandler Whiting, Meredith Ann Whiting, Ashley Wynn Taylor, Grant Lassetter Taylor, Brooke Elizabeth Taylor, and Adam W Moore. Kenneth is also survived by two sisters, Sadie Mae Freedman and Betty Ann Coffee, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank all those who cared for and supported Kenneth, particularly the doctors and staff at Shannon Medical Center for their exceptional compassion. A visitation will take place on Sunday, June 26, from 5-7 pm at the Ellis Funeral Home located at 801 Andrews Highway in Midland, Texas. A memorial service will follow on Monday, June 27, in the chapel at Ellis Funeral Home at 1 pm, followed by a graveside service at Resthaven North.
