Dollie M. Farnum

Dollie Marie Allen Farnum went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ after a short illness on August 16, 2011. She was born and raised in Gustine, Texas. She was the youngest of 12 children to Luther Lee Allen and Ida Belle Allen. She came to Midland as a young girl. At the end of WWII, she met the love of her life, William Farnum at Midland Army Air Field, Midland, TX. She worked for the Scharbauer and the Crawford Hotels, the Ranch House, Plaza Del Sol and Agnes restaurants. She and girlfriend Dell Phelps were co-owners of the Plantation Pancake House of Midland, Texas on West Wall Street. Dollie was married to William Henry Farnum Jr. of Detroit, Michigan. They were long time members of First Baptist Church, Midland, Texas and were married when the church was still downtown prior to moving to the current location. Dollie later owned and operated D&M Concessions at the former 1st National Bank building on Wall St. When her husband retired from S&Q Clothiers, Bill joined Dollie tor two years at her business at the bank. Dollie and Bill retired to Tow Lake Village, Texas on Lake Buchannan. Her husband Bill passed away in 1986. In 1997 she returned to Midland. Dollie has a surviving Sister, Lois Wells Allen in Richland, Washington and Brother, Leslie Allen, Ft. Worth, TX Luther Lee Allen Jr. of Houston, Texas. She has one son, Gary and Daughter-in-law, Linda Farnum; one grandson, William who passed away in 1991 at age 22. Nephews are Billy Allen, Odessa, TX, Johnel & Pat Allen, El Campo, TX, Reverend Guy White, San Angelo, TX, Jimmy White, Big Spring, TX, Ross and Katherine White of Norman, OK, Jackie & Roxanne White, El Paso, Texas, Jerry & Sharon Wells, Kennewick WA, Bob & Carolyn Allen, San Antonio, TX and Richard Allen, Eatontown, NJ. Also, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother's Cecil, Irwin, Erwin, Maurice, Charles and sisters, Golda and Lyndall. Family will be receiving friends Thursday, August 18th, 2011 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Services will be August 19, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. Friday in the Chapel, under direction of Ellis Funeral Home, Andrews Hwy. Midland, TX. First Baptist Church Associate Pastor David Johnson to officiate services. Interment will be at the direction of Ellis Funeral Home at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Midland, Texas. Honorary Pallbearers are Leslie Allen, Luther Lee Allen Jr., Billy Allen, Richard Allen, Bob Allen, Johnel Allen, Rev. Guy White, Jimmy White, Ross White, Micky Ross, Jackie White and Jerry Wells.
