Clifton Eugene Shumate Jr.

On Friday, October 28, Clifton Eugene "Gene" Shumate, Jr., beloved husband and father passed away. He was sixty-seven years old. Born to Cliff and Helen Shumate, Gene graduated from M.B. Lamar High School in Arlington Texas in 1973 and went on to graduate from Texas Tech University with a business degree in 1977. After graduation, he went to work for Conoco until 1987, at which time he transitioned his career to Siete Oil & Gas in Roswell, New Mexico before returning to Midland in 1995 to continue his career in the oil and gas industry. He loved sports, hunting, fishing and playing craps.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cliff and Helen, and is survived by his wife Carol Abbott Shumate; son Michael and Jessica Shumate of Denton, Texas; son Brad Shumate and Jessica Shumate, and granddaughter Beatrice Rose and grandson Theodore Harland of Salem, Oregon; sister Adeane Calleigh and husband William J Olson of Charlottesville, Virginia; brother Michael and Cindy Shumate of Amarillo, Texas; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He shall be missed immeasurably and remembered with love.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 2pm-3pm at Green Tree Country Club, 4900 Green Tree Blvd, Midland, Texas 79707. Gathering in the Ballroom.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to the West SIde Lion's Club of Midland, Texas.
