Eddie was born in Houston Texas on July 30, 1929 to Merritt Joseph Wolf Sr. and Edrei Alleman. He grew up during the depression and for several years lived with his mother, aunt, and older brother in a log cabin that had dirt doors, no electricity, no indoor plumbing, an outhouse, and a big metal tub for bathing. His mother and Aunt Jo worked hard to provide for the two boys. Eddie began working at the age of 11 years old - selling “The Extra” newspapers on a corner in Houston, at a bus stop. At age 12 he started working at Wilkey Humble gas station pumping gas, washing windshields and checking oil.
Eddie graduated from John Reagan High School in 1948. He joined the Navy June 28, 1948. His squadron was VP21 (V=Airplane; P=Patrol) with an Elephant emblem that was representative of a large bomber plane. During the Navy he worked on all of the instrument panels on the USS Leyte aircraft carrier and was an aircraft electrician. Eddie was in multiple areas of Africa, Athens, Marrocco, and Algeria. He went to Spain, Italy, Greece, spending time in Crete. He spent time in Turkey - during one maneuver his squadron drifted over into Russia. Eddie was honorably discharged June 27, 1952.
After the Navy, Eddie worked a few odd jobs before beginning employment with Schlumberger in 1953. He transferred to West Texas in late 1954. The first Saturday, after moving to Midland, he was drinking beer and drag racing on the streets in front of Bowen’s Grocery Store. He was driving a new 1955 Ford - the other guy a Chevrolet. Both young men were arrested and put in the same holding tank as Pinkie Roden. After Pinkie was released he bailed both men out because they had purchased their beer at Pinkie’s Liquor Store. Eddie made sure to let people know that he beat the Chevrolet!!
Eddie married Rosalee “Lee” Booth December 1957 - they had five children.
He worked for Schlumberger until 1969. He and Lee got their Real Estate licenses. He also had his insurance licenses, selling State Farm Insurance for a short time. Eddie worked for Go International before purchasing McAlpine's Truckstop at 2221 E. 2nd in Odessa, Texas. He ran the truck stop until it closed. He started working at A1 Signs & Engraving in 1990, working there until he was just shy of his 79th birthday.
After retirement he was a very active member of the West Side Senior Citizens Center in Odessa, Texas until the center permanently closed due to COVID.
He was a 32nd Mason Scottish Rite and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Eddie loved all of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
He had something very special with his grandson, Joseph Wolf, having lived with Eddie (his Pop) for the first six years of his life - they created a close unbreakable bond. More like father and son, running buddies, friends, and companions. They rode thousands of miles on their motorcycles together. Eddie's final motorcycle ride, at age 89, was spent with Joseph by his side. Their lives are richer because of each other.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, MJ Wolf; his son, Brad Kincaid; his grandson, Donnie Wiggins; his daughter-in-law, Denise Kincaid; the mother of his children, Lee Plott, a host of friends from the West Side Senior Citizen Center, and his most beloved dog, Robert.
