Betty Sue Dillow was the only child born to John & Corene Clenney in Lockesburg, Arkansas on December 12, 1935. They moved to Midland when she was thirteen and graduated from Midland High School in 1953. She met Robert K Dillow (Bob) in 1951 and they married on June 6, 1953 in Evansville, Indiana. They have four children: Helen Whitehead (Jimmy), Jim Dillow (Beverly), Susan Morris (Charles), and Cindy Delay (Dale).
Betty overcame her brief battle with cancer and passed from this world to meet her Heavenly Father on December 6, 2024. She was an active member of Hope Community Church in Midland. She enjoyed cruising, casinos, horse races, quilting, cooking, fishing, and playing Mexican Train and Bunco with her family and friends. Her grandchildren admired her strength, kindness, and fun loving and witty attitude that shaped their lives in so many ways. They also treasured her wealth of knowledge, special recipes, and her life skills. At the age of six, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Melrose Baptist Church in Melrose, Arkansas and baptized in the Little Cossatot River in Melrose, Arkansas. In 1979, Bob and Betty moved to Brownwood with the U.S. Postal Service. She worked as Food Service Director at Brownwood ISD and after moving back to Midland she was the Assistant Food Service Director at Midland ISD.
She raised her four children in Midland and was extremely proud of her 10 grandchildren Charles Roberts, Bobby Whitehead, Lori Phillips, Erin Wallace, Patti Rhoads, Nathan Dillow, John Morris, Rebecca Jones, Christina Henderson, Dustin Delay, along with 25 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Her parents and her husband preceded her in death. The pallbearers will be Charles Roberts, John Morris, Bobby Whitehead, Dustin Delay, Nathan Dillow, and Rodrick Rhoads.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, December 9, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 2:00 p.m., followed by graveside committal at Resthaven Memorial Park.
