Beryl Jean Pruden, 94, passed away in McKinney, Texas on Thursday, June 13, 2024.
Jean was born in Commerce, Texas to Thomas David Anders and Ruby Anders on July 7, 1929. She went to school at Miller Grove High School, continuing her education at East Texas University in Commerce with a BS degree in education.
She married Leonard Lavern Pruden on July 7, 1950 in Commerce. They were married for 74 years.
Jean was a classroom teacher and special education teacher for 29 years. She taught in Port Arthur, Melissa, Evant, Roscoe, Highland and Spring Lake Earth, Texas where she retired.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and quilting. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she held several positions over time. She was an active member of Crestview Baptist Church of Midland.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Lavern Pruden, parents Thomas David Anders and Ruby Anders, stepdad Jim Rodgers, brother J.B. Anders, sister Joyce Smith, and grandson Michael Wayne Pruden.
Jean is survived by three children David Pruden and wife Shirley, James Pruden and wife Linda, Patricia Ray and husband Michael. Six grandkids Demona, Randy, Matt, Marcus, Melanie and Justin; six great grandkids; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sister in law Alice Anders and Lillian Pruden. Brother in law Raymond Pruden and wife Carol.
The family will receive friends and family for visitation Wednesday, June 19, 2024 from 6-8 PM at Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 10 AM at Ellis Funeral Home, followed by burial at Resthaven Memorial Park. Ron Smith, Bobby Smith, Ken Smith, John Smith, Brian Smith and Andy Smith will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Austin Korell, Keegan Korell, and Kaden Korell.
