Alfred Niblett Sr. was born July 21, 1923 in Calvert, Texas to the late Coral Pearl Starks-Niblett and Marshall Niblett Sr. His parents died when he was a very young child and he was raised by relatives in Hearne, Texas. Alfred was nicknamed Bucham and was later known by loved ones and friends as Uncle Bully. He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Garrett Grove under the direction of Rev. A.L Taylor. Alfred received his greetings from the U. S. Military in 1943. He was classified as a Private First Class in Company C 1899th Engineer Aviation Battalion where he served as an airfield construction worker. He received Decorations and Citations: American Theater, Asiatic- Pacific Theater, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1946. He returned to Midland where he met and married Myrtle Lee Walker. He united with Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. H.F. Doyle. He was a faithful member trustee and deacon and held several offices in the church. In 1975 he helped to establish Mt. Calvary Baptist Church under Rev. H.F. Doyle, which was later pastured by Rev. R.E.Lathan. He was a chartered member, an active and dedicated servant for 30 years serving as Deacon, Trustee, Sunday school superintendent, BTU director, President of the Usher board, and church maintenance man, until his health failed. He was presented as one of the first Deacon Emeritus for Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church on March 27, 2011 under the current pastor, Rev. Tommie Lo Hale.
He was called home to glory on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the age of 89 by his Heavenly Father and he will spend his first Christmas in Heaven with Jesus Christ.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Myrtle Lee Niblett of 60 years, a son Jessie Lee, his sister, brother, grandson, Alfred Niblett III, and his parents.
He leaves to cherish his loving and fun filled memories daughters, Betty Niblett Sanford, and Norma Jean Niblett Mosley, of Ft. Worth, Texas. A son Alfred Niblett Jr., (Janet) and daughters; Brenda Joyce Niblett and Callie Wallace (Quincy) of Midland, Texas. Granddaughters; Wyndolyn Walter-Hall (Timothy) Tamara Sanders and Asia Odhams, and seven grandsons; Warden Walter (Carla), Eldon Niblett, Adrain Niblett , Anthony Niblett, Sylvester Stemley (Nakiba), Jamian Jackson and Quinten Wallace. Twelve great-grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
A funeral service has been scheduled for Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 11:00am at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
