We here at Astoria miss Chris so much.  We thought so much of him & think so much of him still. He was a staple here & meant so much to everyone who came in contact with him.  There was nothing he wouldn't do to help someone who needed help, from giving gas money to an employee, take someone home or pick them up if needed, to putting on a pair of gloves & a hair net to help out in dietary or help the aides out on the floor.  He did it all plus his job as our Administrator.  There so much more to this man, I could not tell it all.  Can't believe its been 2 years since you left us. My hope is to see you again and untill then Rest In Peace Chris. 

Wendy u may not remember me but my name is joanna fancher. I lived with faye and danny fuqua since i was 15 till i was 21. Chris was an inspiration in my life. Im sorry i didn't know he was sick. I saw him again when i lived in lebanon he prayed with me and he was there when i needed him. I knew u to. U are a very nice lady. I will always remember him and u. Im 47 now. I was very blessed to have met Chris and work with him at Astoria.  It was obvious that he had a servants heart and a love for his fellow man.  The smiles on the resident’s face as he stopped to say hello, the loyalty of his staff, and the trust he earned from  the families of those he served- these were all testaments to the man he was. 
I will remember him with a smile. 

I am very saddened of hearing the news of Chris passing. Chris was my administrator for awhile he was one of my favorites and a great leader and had a servants heart . Chris always showed love and compassion. I have many memories I've shared with Chris over our time working together that I will cherish. Thank GOD we have hope of seeing You again.

I am so glad that I got to work with Chris. He had a the compassion for the residences and his staff.  Chris had compassion for another people.

Chris and the Jones family were great friends to my family.  I was born into the Gideon Road Church of Christ, a few years younger than Chris.  The Jones kids were part of the landscape of church that I grew up with.  I took my first piano lessons from Kay at their family home and later sang with the Dayton Youth Chorus under her direction.  I remember being in youth group events with Chris when I was in junior high and high school.  We were formed in the same environment.  He was a good kid who grew into a fine man and strong Christian.  Later on, when he was working at Midwestern, he helped me organize an event in honor of my parents' fiftieth wedding anniversary.  He was so sweet to speak at that and later, to serve as a pallbearer for my mother's funeral.  I was so sad to hear the news of his passing.   Our thoughts and prayers are with you from Texas.  

I consider myself blessed to have known Chris. I hope to be half of the servant he was in this life. I thank Wendy and the entire family of Chris for sharing him with us at St Leonard over the last year. Although, I wish it were longer.. I cherish every moment and interaction. He put every one of us before himself, he was so humble and righteous. Chris was definitely one of a kind & I will work everyday to carry on his legacy in healthcare. This picture was taken during one of our first COVID testing events and Chris said “take a picture of me so I can send It to my daughter..” 💙

There are not enough words to express how thankful I am to work side by side with Chris.   I could not image going through this past year with anyone else.  He was an inspiration to many.   He was selfless and he could recognize when someone was struggling.  No matter what he had going on or how much was on his own plate he would make sure everyone else was OK.   I will do my best and follow in the path you started and make you proud.  

When I was working with elementary-aged youth at both Centerville and South Dayton congregations, we did some service projects for Midwestern and Chris was the one whom I'd contact to arrange those. He was a dedicated servant and truly cared about the children served at the home as well as those young souls I worked with. All I've seen and heard of life since then shows that love and servant heart have never changed. Praying for comfort for Wendy and the rest of the family. I know we'll see Chris again in Heaven!

Wendy and family, I could sit here all day and write so many amazing memories of Chris.  But, I will sum it up short and sweet.  His smile, his dedication to his family and God and his love of coffee!  ❤️

We are keeping you all close in our hearts and in constant prayer for comfort and peace.  Your memories  of Chris are precious to always have.

     Wendy and Family, we at Astoria Health and Rehab have absolutely been at such a loss for words when we heard about Chris.  Our team was in shock and grief. We're  not so sure how or what to say, but one thing for sure is Chris was  loved & is still loved.  He will be greatly missed by each Astoria staff member that was honored to work by his side. Chris was such an inspiration to so many people, staff & Residents here.  He wore so many hats, even  wore ours, a lot of times. So many things we can say & never say the same thing twice.  When we all sat down to grieve his loss together,  the one thing that came to everyone's mind was his desire and heart to serve people.  Chris was the "Boss Man" but you would only find him in his office maybe 5% of the time. Chris main concern was always his residents and staff. It appears that God chose to take you on home. There truly are Angels that walk this Earth,   Chris Jones was one.    Rest In Peace Chris. We will always remember and love you. Wendy, you, your children and grandchildren are in our thoughts and prayers.     If you need anything at all please don't hesitate to let us know . Chris was always there  for us,  it is our desire to honor Chris in every way possible. He was not only our Boss, but also our friend, family , loved one  and Mentor.

I was so sad to hear of Chris's passing and will be praying for his family during this difficult time.  I worked with Chris at Friendship Village and I know how dedicated and compassionate  he was about taking good care of his residents.  He was also a good sport when it came to making the residents smile and he joined in many activities and theme days.

Chris came to the HRC at St Leonard’s while my parents were there and after many had left the position after only a short time being there,  Chris stayed and continued to do all he could to improve the HRC.  It wasn’t an easy job to walk into, but I noticed something different right away.  Chris was on the floor, visible and hands on.  That was a huge positive change.   I believe Chris wanted to do the right thing by the residents and employees, but was met with challenges at every turn, which no doubt was very frustrating.   I went to him countless times with concerns and needing help and he always listened when I was angry and frustrated and tried to do whatever he could within his power.   I pray he knew how grateful we were for his help.  His passing is a shock and is so sad for so many, but especially for his loved ones.  Thankful to know that he was a believer and I pray for that comfort from the Lord to his family and friends.

The loss of this man is just heartbreaking. We had both worked with troubled youth earlier in our career's and would discuss the challenges that work presented. He was so caring and compassionate and it showed in both his work with the residents and staff. I pray for comfort for his family, friends and all that had the honor of spending time with Chris.

How does ones heart heal from such a loss ..  From day one you took me under your wing , you made me feel like family , like I was apart of something so much bigger than just a “ nurse aid “ . You made me feel special , you showed me my true potential when I couldn’t see it myself . When I was in a down time in my life , you didn’t hesitate to check on me and help me anyway you could . You took time in your busy day to sit with me in your office so I could just cry to you . You stood by my side when nobody else was there . I’ll never be able to thank you enough for just being you , for making everyone’s lives just a little more special when we were in your presence . You knew how to talk to people , you was the kindest soul and the best work Dad a girl could ask for ❤️ My mind may never be able to understand “why you “ , but my heart will forever be great full for the memories and time I did have with you ❤️ Thank you for showing me what life is really about ! 

Chris was always a  joy to talk to  when I came to Village Christian School.  He was always kind and loving to my children.  He will be missed by many and I know he is in the Arms of Our Lord and Saviour.  God Bless this Family with great love at this time.  Prayers for the presence of the Holy Spirit to Comfort  Wendy, Kim, Ben and Seth through this loss, in Jesus name.


My heart is deeply saddened by the lost of one of the kindness person I have ever met. He was a special gift to St.Leonard. He will be truly missed by all. May God be with his family. May his spirit live on, and keep comfort with his family and friends. We all will miss you.

It was a joy to work as a teacher at Village Christian School with Chris. He was a light and a guide for us all.  I loved when he would come in and sing with us in choir practice. 

I am so deeply saddened for Chris and his family! Chris was the best Administrator I’ve ever worked for in over 20 years of being a nurse.  I remember saying my first few weeks at St Leonard that it’s incredible how hands on he was and truly cared about the residents and his staff. When we had to turn our unit into a Covid unit Chris could have gone home, but he stayed so late that night with us  made sure we were as safe as we could be both the staff and residents. A genuinely kind and caring man and leader. I wouldn’t have wanted to go through Covid with any other leadership. I hope that he realizes how much he has impacted all of us and will never be forgotten!!!! You will never see a better Administrator or Caregiver than Chris! Thank you Chris for getting your staff and the residents through Covid! Never will we ever forget you!

Our Dearest Chris- Where does one start when writing about such a "super human"? I have the greatest pleasure in watching the realest, kindest,  most humble man ever seen in action. At his desk papers flying everywhere, shoes off, and a pair of glasses on his head (as well as in his hand). He encouraged not only myself, but everyone he met to be the best human being they could be. He saw potential in everyone and had that fatherly way of encouraging them to be their best in everything they did. I do not believe I would be where I am in my life If I had not crossed is path. I grieve for his entire family for their loss especially his beloved Grandchildren. He loved you all so much! You must know he was/is our greatest role model. To our BossDad, you will be missed!!!

Words cannot express the impact Chris had at St. Leonards.  In all my years in health care and watching my mom work in health care I have never met a more caring administrator.  Chris would be seen doing what ever was needed . No job was to little or unimportant.  He was the one everyone went to. His main concern was to make the life and workplace of all his residents and staff better. There was not a life untouched by Chris. You will be missed. 

Chris was a man’s man, an exemplary leader,  a hardworking Christian Gentleman and good friend to all.
Chris’s presence always brightened a room—he was just fun to have around. 
St. Leonard was blessed to have Chris as their Health Center Administrator throughout this pandemic.  No one could have done a finer job for his staff and Residents.  
Well done my good and faithful servant!  Until we meet again.

Chris was instrumental in my career, even though I'm sure he would say that he wasn't. He always saw the best in others and treated them accordingly. Thank you Chris for supporting me when I needed it, for believing in me the second go round and for trusting me to watch over Urbana after you left. We talk about you often and already missed you; you will be missed even more now. 

Although I have only known Chris for about 15 months, he most assuredly is one of the most hands-on administrators I have worked with in my 23 year career. When I visited his campus, he was never in his office...he could be found "serving " those he cared so deeply for. As nice and polite a person as you could ever ask for, Chris was a pleasure to be around. I will certainly miss our conversations on life and servant leadership. Chris will certainly be missed and there will forever be a void in the hearts of those who knew him...certainly within the walls of CHI LC there will be a vacancy that will never be filled. God speed my brother...until we meet again.

It has been an honor to work with Chris at both Saber Healthcare and St. Leonard's.   I will miss him Greatly.  Rest well Brother.   You was one of the BEST!  

Chris holds beautiful memories in my heart while serving with the youth at Crosspointe. Always kind and willing to serve. I still donate to Midwestern every Christmas because of him introducing the congregation to the organization. Prayers to the entire family!


I have never worked with a more caring person. The staff at St Leonards HCC is so lucky this man came into our lives.  He treated everyone equally and cared so much about our residents. He will be missed so much. My heart goes out to his family

I was lucky to be able to work among and have the great pleasure of knowing Chris. He cared deeply about all of the residents, and would take the time to have meaningful conversations and make sure that they were happy and comfortable. With Covid, he went above and beyond the call of duty in order to keep all safe. He never failed to go the extra mile, and will forever be admired for it. Chris was always thinking of how to make things better, and I know that all of us are eternally great full for how he changed the workplace and our lives.

Chris  and I share a bond not many will... we worked in healthcare through the pandemic and this man never pulled back.  His heart was first and foremost with our residents and staff.  I witnessed Chris spending days... at St. Leonard making sure procedures and processes were in place to care for our family. I witnessed Chris sharing  prayers and meals with all. Chris voiced his love of St Leonard and our mission in so many  ways.  The day after his passing residents and staff shared so many heartfelt moments of his servant leadership,  I am humbled  for his presence within our campus.  I have become a better person for knowing him.   Peace be with all that knew Chris and I am sorry for your loss
