Emily Ann Ryan, age 20, of Franklin (Hunter), Ohio entered her eternal home on Friday, April 21, 2023. She was born July 25, 2002, in Middletown, Ohio. Emily is the daughter of Jeffrey H. Ryan and Yvonne M. (DiMattei) Ryan.
Emily was a bright star who did everything with all of herself. She had a light from within that shined in everything she did. She had the most beautiful blue eyes, a great personality, and she was the kindest person you could meet with the biggest heart. Emily loved everyone she met and always saw the good in people. Emily was the one who would befriend everyone.
Emily was a 2021 graduate of Middletown Christian School and started her studies in Business Administration at Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola Florida. Her goal was to open a 50’s diner restaurant where she could use one of her many passions of life, cooking. At her passing, she was working as a line cook at BW3’s; a job that she absolutely loved.
Emily had many passions in life; in addition to cooking, she loved acting and would make movies as well as participate in plays every chance she could. Drawing was another big passion of Emily’s; she was proud of a bicycle she won in a school art competition her eighth grade year. Beauty and make-up art were also huge passions; she was always wearing amazing make-up. All things Disney can’t go unmentioned in her passions; she enjoyed 13 trips to Disney World and one trip to Disney Land, she was looking forward to a Disneyland Paris trip in the future; she wanted her wedding to be at Walt Disney World, and her first steps were taken in the Hall of President’s in Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park.
Emily’s most passionate activity, however, was dancing. She was a member of a dance group and traveled all over the Eastern United States participating in competitions. Several weekends a year she traveled for a competition and spent many hours practicing with her dance partner friends. From a young age Emily enjoyed dancing and would always dance if there was an opportunity, no matter where she was, who she was with, or what activity she was doing; dancing was synonymous with Emily Ann Ryan.
Emily trusted in Christ as her personal Saviour while attending camp on a Thursday night in June 2010. Her friend Bro. George Griffis, a man Emily adored and looked up to, was preaching the night she was saved. Emily was active in her church for most of her life and loved the members of the Indian Springs Baptist Church. There is no question where Emily is today.
She is preceded in death by her uncle, whom she shared the same “ER” initials with, Eric “Big E” Ryan, her grandfather, Thomas A. Ryan; great grandparents, and her unborn older sibling who she has now had the pleasure of meeting.
Emily is survived by her parents, Jeffrey and Yvonne Ryan of Franklin (Hunter); her sister and best friend, Katelyn “KK” Ryan of Franklin (Hunter); biological sisters, Charlotte DiMattei of Middletown, Lola DiMattei of South Carolina, Haley DiMattei of Germantown; biological brothers, Shane Jenkins of Maineville, Kyle Jenkins of Morrow; her foster brother, Cameron Tillet; her foster sister, Breanna Tillet; grandparents, Karen S. Ryan of Middletown, “Oma” Hannelore (Wendell) Perkins of Middletown; “Aunt Mimi” Amy (Dan) Holtgrefe of Middletown; Uncle Seth (Nann) Ryan of Liberty Township; Uncle Keith (Rebecca) DiMattei of Middletown; Uncle Dave DiMattei of Morrow, Aunt Tanya (Jeff) Marshall of Tennessee, Aunt Lore Ann of Oregon; Aunt Laura DiMattei of Middletown; her close (like sibling) cousins, Dennis (Kali) Holtgrefe of Franklin, Thomas (Alyssa) Holtgrefe of Middletown, Joshua Holtgrefe of Middletown, Shiloh Ryan of Liberty Township, Abigail Ryan of Liberty Township, and Caleb Ryan of Liberty Township; Angel Marshall, Aleisha Marshall, Amaris Marshall; Foster parents Doug & Michelle Tillet of Hamilton; ”Granny Franny” Fran Thomas; Aunt Norma (Rick) Day; cousins, Madison King, Selina Day, Abigail Thomas; Amy Jo Meadows of Fort Walton Beach Florida; Emily’s boyfriend, Danny Lewis of West Carrollton, KK’s boyfriend, Zach Barrett of Franklin/Hunter; as well as many other cousins, extended family, and dear family friends.
In memory of some special and memorable parts of her life, Emily’s family has chosen to have her services at her church: the building where she grew up running around as if she owned the building; the building where her parents dedicated her to the Lord as a baby; the building where her grandfather held her up high to God while praying that dedication prayer; the building where Emily was baptized after trusting Christ as her personal Saviour; the building where Emily, as the older loving sister, went forward with her KK and prayed with her for salvation. No other building seemed appropriate to hold Emily’s services. Additionally, the family has asked that, in addition to Emily’s Pastor, the man she adored and looked forward to seeing at camp every year, Bro. George Griffis officiate the service as well. Lastly, the family chose Thursday for the services as that is the day Emily was saved at camp so many years ago.
Visitation will be 10am-12pm on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Indian Springs Baptist Church, 250 Hancock Ave, Hamilton, OH 45011. A Celebration of her life and home-going will follow at 12pm with Pastor Joseph French and Evangelist George Griffis officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park in Hamilton Ohio. The family encourages anyone who knew Emily to come out for her Home Going Celebration. The family also encourages, as part of her memorial, any stories you may have of Emily be left online so that they may be cherished forever.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made in Emily’s name to the Indian Springs Baptist Church, Thomas A. Ryan Semper Fi Memorial Fund. This fund is in honor of her grandfather and will help fund student’s Bible college education in third world countries.
