Raymond Harold Cherrington, Jr. (Uncle Harold, Ray), 92 and a resident of Orange Park, Florida passed away peacefully on March 2, 2024. Colonel Cherrington was born in Jackson, Ohio and pursued his education in healthcare. Ray was married to his beloved wife Mona Sue for 44 years, who predeceased Ray in 2007; he was also predeceased by his brother, James, and sister Millie. Raymond is survived by his nephew, Kevin and his spouse JoAnn, and the many friends that he and Mona knew through their involvement with Cat Fanciers Association and the Abyssinian Cat Club they founded.
Colonel Cherrington served as a registered nurse in the U.S. Army for 36 years and was stationed all around the globe. He was passionate about cooking delicious food, enjoying good wine and cheese, and following the political scene. Ray’s kindness and generosity touched the lives of his family, thousands of service men and women, his friends, and the caregivers who served him during the last few months of his life.
A memorial service to honor Raymond and Mona Sue will be held in the coming months.
