Charles William Howard, Sr., 83, of Moraine, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 27, 2020. He was born in Harlan County Kentucky on January 6, 1937. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty Lou Howard; his father, Fred Howard; mother and step-father, Katie and Donald Freeze.
Charles is survived by his children, Melanie (Chris) McDade, Kim Ryan (Bill Cook), Tammy (Glen) Rose, Charles “Chuck” Howard, Jr. (Debbie Reynolds), Melissa (Mick) Slone, and Mary Howard-Vance (David Caupp); grandchildren, Jennifer Sodders, Chuck Sodders, David Sodders, Misty Guillaume, Susan Guest, Phillip Ryan, Kenneth Crabtree, Ashley Kynett, Rhyan Baldwin, Robert Slone, Jr., Jordan Vance, Taylor Vance, and Anthony Vance; 23 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carol (Frank) Dodson; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Charles and Betty enjoyed playing Bingo, bowling, and taking trips to Las Vegas. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 33 years of service and spent many years as an EMT and firefighter for the city of Moraine and Miami Township. Charles was also a past member of the Council-at-Large for the city of Moraine.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10 – 11 AM on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at GEBHART-SCHMIDT-PARRAMORE Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM. Burial will take place at Willow View Cemetery, Dayton.
