Yamile Couselo, of Miami, 94, passed away September 17, 2022 after a long illness. Yamile is survived by her loving niece, Eunice Yamile Couselo (and her wife Ann Marie) and her cousin Lucila Venet Jimenez (and her husband Andres) as well as several other cousins. She is predeceased by her brothers and sister-in-law Omar (and his wife Eunice), Andres, and Jose Couselo.
Born in Cuba, Yamile earned two Bachelor’s degrees and one Master’s degree. As a young woman, she embraced teaching as a career. She was also an entrepreneur and had a dry-cleaning business in California.
After retiring from her business in California, Yamile moved to Miami in order to be closer to family. She worked at Sweet Art by Lucila for many years and enjoyed the comradery of her cousins and other employees.
Yamile prided herself on being an independent and strong woman. She loved motorcycles and rode one until the age of 72. Her family sometimes kiddingly suggested that she was a little stubborn, but Yamile always said that it was how she always accomplished her goals.
Yamile truly loved animals. She always had dogs, bred miniature poodles and cockatiels for many years, had sundry fishes, cared for the neighborhood cats and always seemed to be a magnet for homeless dogs that she welcomed with open arms.
