Mona Helen Parker was born in the Bronx on July 9, 1937 and died in Boston after a brief illness on January 12, 2019. Mona grew up on Miami Beach, graduated from the University of Miami as an art educator and lived in South Florida until 2017. She ran her own antique jewelry business for many years. Throughout this long residence she sustained and cultivated many strong and enduring friendships. In 2017, she moved to Massachusetts to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren to share holidays and other favorite pastimes. She relished her new home, where she and her beloved dog Ruby were embraced by the Simon Fireman Community and where she remained active with new friendships, card playing and art making until her recent illness.
She is predeceased by her parents, Esther and Harry Mizrach; her husband Herbert Parker; and her brother Larry Mizrach. She is survived by her daughters Rhonda Parker and Marian Parker; their partners Steven Binney and Joel Saxe; grandchildren Leah, Hannah, Asa and Sarah; and nieces and nephews Randi, Bobbi, Glenn, Bruce and Steven.
A graveside service will be held at Mount Nebo cemetery, 5505 NW 3rd St, Miami on Wednesday, January 16, at 12 Noon. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
