PERNAS, Maria Del Rosario “Maricharo”, born in Havana, Cuba, May 4, 1960, passed away on April 17, 2012. She was 51 years old. She is survived by her devoted partner of 25 years, Astrid Monterroso, who was her heart and soul. Her beloved mother, Maria D. Pernas, also survives her. Her father, Alfredo Ricardo Pernas, precedes her in death. Maricharo will be dearly missed by her siblings, Maria Cristina Pernas (Marcos Caruso); Maria Lourdes Pernas Pino (Gene Pino); Antonio Felipe Pernas; Maria Dolores Pernas; Alberto Juan Pernas (Karla Calderon Rodriguez) and Alfredo Antonio Pernas (Norin Berry); She was the adoring aunt to her nieces and nephews, Ricardo Jose Perez-Pernas, Oscar Antonio Diaz, Sophia Natalia Pernas, Monica Andrea Pernas, Julian Alexis Diaz, Anna Carolina Pernas, Amanda Beatrice Pernas, Jorge Alfredo Pupo, Samantha Alexandria Hamilton, Antonio Jose Maria Pernas, Cristina Lourdes Caruso, Valeria del Mar Pernas, Alberto Karlo Pernas, Sophia Isabella Hamilton, Matteo Luis Caruso, Tomas Alfredo Caruso and grand-nephew, Jose Alberto Sosa. Her dedicated, extended family includes, Elsa and Paco Monterroso, Frank Monterroso, Luana and Chris Hamilton, Yolanda Urizar, Maria Elena Diaz, and Marlene Jimenez. Her work family includes Jorge Py Veloso, Eduardo Barros, Ami Gonzalez, Cassandra D. Hernandez, Damaris Diez-Cigales, Maria K. Espinosa, Benibel Vazquez-Pausa, Alani Mia Vazquez-Pausa, and her “right-hand man”, Carlos Vazquez-Pausa. Maricharo had a host of friends she considered family who are many in number. She devoted her life to her work, holding titles of National Sales Manager, International Sales Director and Director of Sales in the Outdoor Sporting Goods Industry for over 30 years. A devout Catholic who loved the Lord, she was a dedicated and nurturing caregiver who improved and touched the lives of others. Everyone who knew Maricharo enjoyed her sharp wit and indescribable humor. There was no prop she wouldn’t use to get a hearty laugh. The lives that she touched cannot be counted. Her generosity was incomparable. The problems that she solved cannot be measured. The amount of people living a better life, simply because Maricharo chose to care, will have a lasting influence. She spent her final days surrounded by family and friends. We will miss our partner, daughter, sister, aunt and friend dearly and hold her in our hearts forever. She truly succeeded at leaving her mark by making a difference. Visitation will be held on April 19, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Funeraria Memorial Plan, 9800 SW 24th Street, Miami, through the evening. Mass will be held on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Kevin’s Catholic Church, 12525 SW 42 Street, Miami, with interment to follow at Miami Memorial Park, 6200 SW 77th Avenue, Miami.
