She was the beloved mother of Sharon Kline Weaver (J.V.O.) of Niceville,
and Stephen M. Kline (Phyllis) of Palm Beach Shores, grandmother of
Josh Weaver (Christine) of San Jose, California, and the widow of Joseph H. Kline, (1993d.) She was the cherished aunt of many nieces and nephews and a true friend to all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Kline was born in Macon, Georgia in 1924, to Sophie and Nathan "Pop" Alexander. She was the youngest of eight children (Sara, Jerry, Izzie, Herman, Sam, Harry, and Sol).
When the family moved to Miami in 1929 they joined Beth David Synagogue and opened their family grocery store, Dixie Cash Market in Overtown.
Mrs. Kline graduated from Miami Senior High School in 1942. She and
Joe were married in 1943 by Rabbi Max Shapiro and immediately moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts, where Joe served in the US Navy, after attending and teaching at M.I.T. After the war, the couple returned to Florida where they lived the rest of their lives.
Mrs. Kline was a longtime member of the Miami Pioneers/ Natives of Dade, the Taoist Tai Chi Society, and an active and supporting member of the United Order of True Sisters an organization providing summer camp experiences for children from the Miami Children’s Hospital cancer center.
