August 5, 1913 - July 4, 2022
Josefina Rivera passed away peacefully at home. Born on August 5, 1913 but always celebrated her birthday on her Saints Day, March 19th.
Loving mother to Anna, grandmother to Erick, Lisa and her partner Chad, great grandmother to Joseph and Nicholas, great aunt to Joaquin, his wife Jeannie and their children Luciano, Lorenzo and Luciella.
Josefina, always known as Aguilo and Titita, was born in Moca, Puerto Rico where she lived for over 30 years. She moved to Miami where she raised her daughter. Later moving to New Jersey to help raise her grandchildren. Finally moving back home to South Florida where she lived, always surrounded by family and loved ones.
Josefina loved to travel the world with her daughter and to Puerto Rico visiting family. She enjoyed the beach, being in the water and sight seeing more than anything.
She loved to drink her milk and sugar with a little bit of coffee. Her passion was cooking and specialties were chicken fricassee, gandules, and her world famous black beans and rice. She loved gardening, fresh cut flowers, and her favorites were gardenias, roses and carnations.
Aguilo loved to sing and write poetry. Her beautiful voice graced us with a song on every birthday and holiday. She enjoyed watching Spanish television, soap operas, boxing, soccer and especially the Miami Dolphins.
She lived an amazing, full life surrounded by family at all times. Josefina’s smile lit up any room she was in. She was the pillar of our family but her biggest and best attribute, what she will be most known for and what we will miss the most, is her heart. She was loving, caring, passionate and fiercely loyal to family and friends. If you were lucky enough to be in her heart, you were the luckiest person in the world.
