

Glenis Knowles McNamee, 91, passed away on March 22,2025 from respiratory failure. Glenis was born in July 1933 in Bolton, England and immigrated at age 16 to the United States along with her parents, William and Bertha Knowles, and brother William Knowles Jr., arriving at the Port of New York in June 1950 aboard the passenger ship Mauretanic, and eventually settling in Miami, Florida to marry and raise a family of her own.
Beginning in 1969, Glenis worked as a Communications Dispatcher and Trainer for the Dade County Public Safety Department and the Metro-Dade Police Department for a total of 26 years, where she met her beloved husband, Albert J. LaChance. Shortly after her retirement in July 1995, daughter Jean-Marie McNamee Rodriguez blessed her with her two adored grandchildren, Daniel Bryan. and David Alexander. Rodriguez, who she was very proud of and brought to her the greatest joys of her life.
In her retirement years, she enjoyed traveling to see family in England and Germany, her annual holiday cruises with her husband, spoiling her grandchildren, and spending time with friends at the American Legion South Miami and the Retired Police Officer Council.
Glenis is survived by her loving husband, daughter, and grandchildren, and is predeceased by her two sons, Curtis Randolph McNamee and Michael Brian McNamee, and her parents and brother.
A viewing for family and friends will be held on March 28th, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a blessing at 7:00 pm., at the Caballero Rivero Woodlawn South Funeral Home located at 11655 S.W. 117th Avenue, Miami, FL 33186.
Glenis’s final resting place will be at the South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 S State Road 7, Lake Worth, Florida 33449.
