William Chief "Bill" "Chief" Sykes

William “Bill” "Chief” Sykes entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 with his loving family at his side. Devoted husband of Bernadine Jones Sykes of 47 years. Loving father of Trumell Sykes (Kenya), Dellrond Sykes (Tonya), Renada “Honey bun” Sykes (finance, Kippy) and the late Torlin Sykes. Proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren and godfather of Ladodges Reese. Son of Alberta Peterson Sykes and the late Ephrian Sykes. Brother of Ephrian Sykes, Jr. (Wanda), Frankie D’Lilly, Vanessa Brown, Zinda Peterson and the late Charles Peterson and Semond Sanford. The “Chief” was also survived by his sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.

Age 74, a native of Colfax, LA and a lifelong resident of Kenner. A retired plant manager with Bunge Grain Elevator Company after 35 years of service and also worked at the Ronald McDonald House for a number of years. He loved history, an avid collector; he loved to video anything important on the news and traveling. The family would like to extend their thanks to Americare Hospice for their compassionate care.

Relatives, Friends, fellow members of Oakland Baptist Church, Kenner, LA and all neighboring churches, employees of Bunge Grain Elevator Co., and the Ronald McDonald House are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 11:00 am at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie.
