Terrence Courtney Sloan

Terrence “Terry” C. Sloan beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Terry was born on February 27, 1948 and passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on August 4, 2021 at the age of 73. He was preceded in death by his infant son Terrence Courtney Sloan II, and his parents Courtney J. Sloan & Marie Tafaro Sloan. Terry is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years Georgette Calongne Sloan. daughters Ashley Sloan Clesi ( fiancé John Cornett ) and Courtney Sloan Gray. Adored grandfather of Emma Clesi and Tyler Gray. Brother of Timothy J Sloan (Ginger). Also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews. Terry was a native New Orleanian and attended St. Anthony of Padua Grammar School, Jesuit High School ‘66, LSU, Hotel Dieu Nursing School and Charity Hospital School of Anesthesia. He was a very respected and loved Nurse Anesthetist at Mercy Hospital and Touro Infirmary until his retirement in 2005. The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to Peter Haar, whose loving care for Terry was more like that of a son, and to Father Joe Benson, whose friendship and spiritual direction was treasured and life-changing. Terry was fortunate to have prayed with the Emmanuel couples prayer group for over 30 years and to be a part of the Jerusalem Covenant Community. Relatives, friends, and staff of UMC-ER, River Oaks Hospital, and Dominican High School are invited to attend a Memorial Mass to be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 4640 Canal Street, New Orleans, on Tuesday afternoon, August 10 at 3:00. Visitation will begin at 1:00. Interment in Rosaryville Cemetery in Springfield, Louisiana will immediately follow the Mass. All are welcome to attend. Masks will be required at church during the visitation and Mass. In Lieu of flowers, Masses are preferred.
