Stephen Edward Ryan

Stephen Edward Ryan affectionately known as Podnuh of Metairie Louisiana, passed away November 9, 2023 at the age of 58. He was a cherished son, brother, godfather, and uncle. He greatly valued his family and friends.

Stephen was born in New Orleans on November 10, 1964. He was the beloved son to Sylvia Mariande Ryan, and the late Edward J Ryan , Jr.; brother to Nicole Ryan Major Vedros, (Barry), godfather and uncle to Sean Edward Major; nephew to Ferdinand Mariande, Sr., the late Caroline Collura Mariande, the late William Ryan (Valerie), the late Laura Cobb Ryan. He had many friends and cousins that will deeply miss him.

Stephen grew up in Metairie, and was a graduate of Saint Philip Neri and Archbishop Rummel high school. He attended South Eastern University. He worked at Marine Insurance Services, INC. He was a humanitarian with a boundless heart. He helped those less fortunate and would take anybody in. Stephen was a loyal SAINTS and LSU fan rarely missing a game. He was a foodie and enjoyed dining at many restaurants around town. He lived for festivals and reunions. He was an avid reader and history buff.

Podnuh, you left us too soon. We will miss your laugh and anecdotes. You always knew what to say and had the biggest heart. Your family and friends will miss you terribly.

Friends and relatives are invited to a Celebration of Life Gathering on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA 70006 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 1:00 mass to follow at St Ann Church, 4940 Meadowdale St., Metairie, LA 70006.
