Rae Ann “Annie” Guerchoux Legendre passed into eternal rest on Sunday October 30, 2022. Born in New Orleans on October 22, 1930. Resident of Metairie for 62 years. She attended St. Alphonsus School and graduated from Redemptorist High School before working in the offices of Motion Picture Advertising (MPA).
Known as “Annie” or “Grandma Annie” to all who loved her, she enjoyed music, dancing, classic television shows and movies. She will always be known as the lady who found her way to people’s hearts by offering “sweets and goodies.”
She is preceded in death by her mother, Henrietta Haney Guerchoux; father, Robert Guerchoux; brother, James Joseph Devlin, Sr.; sister, Mary Henrietta Devlin.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Durel Anthony Legendre; son, Durel Anthony Legendre, Jr. (Stephanie); daughter, Suzette Legendre Farrelly (Tim); sister, Patricia Trapani (Mike); grandchildren: Anthony Legendre, Sean Legendre, Natalie Legendre, Tommy Farrelly, Danny Farrelly, Kelly Farrelly; and many adoring nieces, nephews, in-laws and cousins. Annie was especially close to her sister’s children: Michael Trapani, Jr., Robert Trapani and Patricia Trapani Welker.
The family wishes to express its sincerest thanks to all staff involved in Annie’s medical care during her stays at East Jefferson General Hospital, St. Joseph Hospice and Fidelis Residential Care Home.
Funeral Mass will be at St. Catherine of Siena 105 Bonnabel Boulevard, Metairie, Louisiana, at 12noon on Thursday, November 3, 2022. Visitation will begin in church at 10am. Interment immediately following in All Saints Mausoleum. Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home is coordinating all arrangements.
In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the following schools: Jesuit High School, Mount Carmel Academy, St. Catherine of Siena; or to her favorite charity, St. Joseph’s Indian School, Chamberlain, SD.
