Patricia Louise Dominick entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 16th, 2024, at the age of 70. Patricia was born and raised in the parish and was a resident of Metairie, LA all her life. She was preceded in death by her father, Leo Dominick; her mother, Lillian Griffin Creppel; stepmother, Ella Abney Dominick and brothers, Andre Dominick and Charlie Dominick. She is survived by her children, Antonio Porrazzo Sr., Alaina Porrazzo House (James) and Dominick Porrazzo (Jessica) and six grandchildren: Ashley Porrazzo, Antonio Porrazzo, Jr., Logan Porrazzo, Gavin House, Elizabeth Porrazzo, Thomas House and Caitlin Porazzo. She was looking forward to meeting her first great-grandchild, Lucas Demetrie Porrazzo. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins whom she very much loved and enjoyed spending time with.
Patricia worked all her life and contributed to society until she was physically disabled by a stroke in December 2020. Over the next 3 years, she battled complications from her stroke and other illnesses until she made the decision to transition to hospice care. The family would like to thank the care teams at East Jefferson General Hospital and Woldenberg Village for their medical expertise and compassion. The family would also like to remind everyone that when it comes to spotting a stroke and getting help, the faster the better. Prompt treatment may make the difference between life and death or full recovery and long-term disability. Think FAST F-face drooping, A-arm weakness, S-speech difficulty, T-time to call 911 immediately and get to an emergency department.
Patricia enjoyed spending time with her immediate and extended family. Some of her favorite memories included cruising, vacations, bingo and collecting a bunch of change as the winner of many rounds of Liverpool rummy even though some may allege that she did not add her points up correctly. She also enjoyed time with friends and family in heated games of Yahtzee and Scrabble in which she was well known to add new words to the English language. She enjoyed holiday gatherings, workplace parties and family reunions in addition to spending time with her cousins. Her most precious memories were centered around creating her “book of life” over the years with her grandchildren, and her happiest moments are when everyone was together under one roof. She also had many lifelong friends and neighbors whom she kept in touch with over the years. Patricia and her sense of humor will be greatly missed by all and remain with us in spirit.
A gathering to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie.
