Dewayne Carpenter passed away on Friday, August 24, 2012, at Ochsner Hospital. He was 91 years old. He was born to Mary Elizabeth Snowden Carpenter and Benjamin Otis Carpenter in Newton County, MS on May 22, 1921. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years Winifred Cleveland Carpenter. Brother of the late Bonnie Bess Alexander. He proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Coast Guard in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Carpenter had a long (49 years) and distinguished career with Winn-Dixie Stores and retired in 1987 as the Division President of the Atlanta Division. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Kenner. Mr. Carpenter is survived by his cherished daughters Claire Bouler (and husband Eric) and Carol Stamm (and husband Andrew) both of Harahan, LA. He is also survived by three loving grandchildren Lauren Bouler Hobbs (and husband Brian) of Gonzales, LA, Marcus Bouler of River Ridge, LA and Wesley Bouler (and wife Jenny) of Destrehan, LA, and eight precious great-grandchildren Ethan DeSoto, Brady and Parker Hobbs, Christian, Andrew, Jackson, Aidan and Alexander Bouler. Mr. Carpenter was a resident of the Ville Ste. Marie which he had called home for 11 years. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Dr. Metairie on Tuesday September 4, 2012 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm. A graveside service will be held at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian, MS on Wednesday September 5, 2012 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, contributions to First Baptist Church of Kenner, P.O. Box 1357, Kenner, LA 70063 would be appreciated.
