Mike Fanning

Michael Joseph “Mike” Fanning passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 29, 2017. He was 71 years old. Beloved husband of Mary Becker Fanning for over 50 years. Loving father of Michelle Fanning Halder (Lester) and Melissa Fanning Schneider (David). Grandfather of Hayley Elizabeth Halder and Ethan Michael Schneider. Son of the late Frank and Thelma Boyd Fanning. Brother of the late Hilton Howard and Genevieve Geisenheimer. Brother-in-law of Cathy Bouza, John Becker (Ginger), and the late Gerard “Jerry” Becker. Uncle of Kimberly Culmone, Lisa D’Gerolamo (Dave), Shaun Becker, Jeffery Becker (Lauren), Jessica Mattix (Jake), Jennifer Becker, and Amanda Dupuis (Beau). Mike was a native of Uptown New Orleans and has been a resident of Metairie for over 40 years. He was an active member of Linn Wood Ionic Lodge #167 F.A.M. Jefferson, LA and the Jerusalem Shrine Temple. He was a member of the Shriner’s Clown Unit where he was known as “Poo-Pah”. He retired from Bailey Refrigeration after many years of dedicated service. Mike enjoyed traveling with his family and spending time with his grandchildren. Contributions can be made in his memory to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children – Shreveport. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at LEITZ-EAGAN Metairie, 4747 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, on Saturday morning, November 4, 2017 at 11:00.
