Mary Irene Duplechain Meyer passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the age of 88. She was born on June 6, 1923 in Leonville, LA to Octavie Guidroz and Jean Baptiste Duplechain. She lived in Metairie, LA for more than 60 years and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Divine Providence Church for 32 years. She worked as a machine operator and a product inspector for Transmatch Corp. match factory in St. Rose for 31 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John Leroy Meyer; a grandson, John James Meyer; six sisters: Cecile D. Marks, Esther D. Kelly, Loretta D. Aymond, Ida D. Dupré, Evelyn D. Soileau and Lorena D. Guillory and a brother, Jean Baptiste Duplechain, Jr.
Survivors include a son, Danny Meyer (Carol); two daughters, Dolores Vice (Darrell) and Doris M. Nicholas; three grandsons, Aaron Meyer (Jaylon), Darren Vice (Angelle) and Earl J. Nicholas III; three granddaughters, Aimee Meyer, Jennifer Vice and Rachel Nicholas (Ricky Tate); three great grandchildren; a step great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews with whom she was very close.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 from 5-8 pm and on Thursday morning, December 29, 2011 from 9:30-11:30 am at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA. The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday morning at 11:30 am. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
