In the wee small hours of the morning of Sept. 24, 2015, while the whole wide world he knew was fast asleep, Louis William Tillman was granted his angel wings and flew away from us to his heavenly home. He rejoined his parents, Otto Linka Tillman and Lauretta Miranda Tillman, and his brothers, Otto, Roy, and Harold, and sister-in-law, Emily who eagerly awaiting his arrival and their reunion which had taken far too long. Lou came into this world March 24, 1924, the first of five sons born to the union of Otto and Lauretta. He proudly served our country in WWII from early 1943, landing on Normandy Beach in the third wave, disappointed that he had not been in the first. After his discharge in 1946, he met and married the love of his life, Ruby O’Quinn. By trade, Lou was a carpenter but in reality, an artist and perfectionist of the trade. He was an avid fan of Saints and LSU football, holding season tickets for years and never missing a game. He later reluctantly became an Ole Miss fan where his youngest grandson decided to attend college. Lou was there in the grove on that May 2012 graduation day, beaming with pride. Lou is survived by his son, Larry Tillman (Deborah), his youngest brother, Lester Tillman, step-daughters Judy Tillman and Connie Price, three grandsons (Allen, Brad, and Billy), four great-grandchildren, his sister-in-law, Annette (“Soy”), and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. The family wishes to express our sincere thanks to Susie Richard and the entire staff of Azalea Estates Assisted Living Community and Louisiana Hospice, especially Barry Bankston RN for their care, compassion, and devotion to our Dad in his final days. May God bless them all!!
