Jorge Eduardo Coello, Jr. of Metairie, LA entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at the age of 53. He is survived by his children, Caleb Coello and Michaela Coello; his parents, Jorge Coello, Sr. and Janette Carabantes Coello; his siblings, Zoila E. Marcia (Jose), Ruben D. Coello (Michelle), and Josue Coello (Lisa). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Ashley (Giovani), Chris (Mariana), Rachel, DJ, Julia, Antonio, Darius, Hallie, Ethan, Garon, Gabriel, Scarlette, Lakeir, LayLoni and his beloved dogs, Corky and Waylon.
He was a graduate of Alfred Bonnabel High School, Class of 87. He excelled in wrestling throughout his high school years and was involved in acro-gymnastics which led to him winning 2nd place in nationwide competition in Hawaii. He enlisted into the Marine Corps in 1989 where he worked as a basic metal worker and achieved the rank of Lance Corporal. During his career, he received the awards of Rifle Marksmanship Badge, AS, NA, SD, ND, NU, CM, Cert Comm. He was a war veteran of Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He was discharged under honorable conditions in 1993 and continued his career as a metal worker working in a variety of jobs such as building flight simulators and structural steel welding among others. Later on, he changed his career and became an audio-visual communication specialist where he had opportunities to use his skills for convention set-ups, weddings, etc.
He was a family man who enjoyed quality time with his children, nieces, nephews and family members alike. He was all about creating special memories. He was an active member of Victory Church and enjoyed his social life. He also enjoyed several hobbies including gardening, flying kites, fishing, playing pool and bike riding.
A celebration of Jorge's life will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie, LA on Sunday, March 5, 2023. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am and continue until the service begins at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of sending flowers, a donation can be made in honor of Jorge’s life. All donations will be given to a veteran organization which will be vetted by the family. Please make all donations via Venmo to @Coello-Family22.
