Jackie Lee Miller, 68, passed away on Friday, December 15th at St. Tammany Parish Hospital surrounded by her closest family. She died in peace just two months after being diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer.
Jackie was born a hippie on October 1st 1949 at Hotel Dieu to the late Jack W. and Althea E. Lee. She was raised at 1941 Wilton Dr. in Gentilly where she attended St. Francis Cabrini and St. Joseph’s Academy. This would be the same home where she would later raise her children. Jackie relocated to Ponchatoula, LA after her home flooded in Hurricane Katrina.
Jackie had a life-changing encounter with Jesus at a Christian Concert in 1996 which moved her to expose her own struggles with drug addiction. She got clean and sober that day and went back to UNO to complete her degree in social work in 2005 at the age of 55. She then began her life work as an Addictions counselor at the Celebration Hope Center in Metairie helping others to find the same freedom that Jesus brought to her life. Jackie was still involved in her recovery community until the day she passed.
She is survived by her devoted husband Chic Miller with whom she just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. She is also survived by her brother David Lee (Glenda), her son Manley Miller (Dana), and her daughter Chelsea White (Zoe). She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren Jack-Hayden, Mackenzie, Preston, Zuri, Sammie, Cruz, Crozby and Azalea. Jackie has joined her 9th grandchild Ezra Manley White in Heaven.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 20th at Celebration Church Metairie Campus, 2001 Airline Dr. Visitation will be from 11am to 1pm, with a celebration of life service at 1pm. The online guestbook is available at www.leitzeaganfuneralhome.com.
