Diane Marie Poursine Bilbe, born on August 30, 1940, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother and father, Elizabeth Christoffersen Poursine and Marcel Henry Poursine, Sr., her sister, Denise P. Boudreaux, her sister, Alice Sutherland, (Gary) and her niece, Michelle M. Montz.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Edward Charles Bilbe Jr., her loving sons: Charles Bilbe (Sharon), David Bilbe (Charlene) and Mitchell Bilbe (Denise), and her close-knit siblings: Janet P. Weber (John) and Marcel H. Poursine, (Sharon).
She was an adoring “Mere” to Sarah Bilbe Cutrera (Brandon), Caroline Bilbe, James Bilbe, Jane Ellen Bilbe, Annie Bilbe, Peter Bilbe and Teddy Bilbe. She called them her “chicks” and she loved then beyond measure.
She was the cherished “Lady Di” to a host of nieces and nephews with whom she shared genuine, loving relationships. Di was a sister-in-law to Lynn DeBlois, Cecilia Fugetta (Terry), Francine Foglesong (Dan), Kenneth Raymond (Donna) and the late Dennis Bilbe. Di shared lifelong friendships with several beautiful women she considered family. She was a caring aunt to numerous great nieces and nephews, as well.
Diane was a native of New Orleans and graduated from John McDonough High School, Class of 1959. She raised her family in Metairie, Louisiana and was a parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen Parish. Di was an incredibly genuine person and was loved by all who knew her. You never left her presence without a smile. She devoted her life to her husband, children and grandchildren, never missing her grandsons playing sports and her granddaughters dancing at a recital, cheering at games, or doing gymnastics at meets. We will forever miss her animated life storytelling, famous roast beef, and her Christmas stocking stuffers. She was TRULY in a class by herself.
Visitation will be held at Leitz-Eagan 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie, LA on Thursday, October 12, starting at 9:00am with a Mass beginning at 11:00am. A private burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.leitzeaganfuneralhome.com.
