Charles John Cyrus Jr.

Charles John Cyrus Jr., beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend was received into Heaven on January 30, 2024, by the open arms of our dearly departed loved ones. He was welcomed by his mother and father, Harriet and Charles John Cyrus, his wife, Catherine Messina Cyrus and brothers in law, Henry Fuxan and Dell Ferguson. He is survived by his son, Charles John Cyrus III (Sue), his daughter, Mary Cyrus Boyd (Danny), his grandchildren, Jenna Marie Cyrus, Charles John Cyrus IV, Olivia Ann Cyrus, Connor William Boyd and Collin Charles Boyd, his siblings, Jacqueline Cyrus Fuxan, Trudy Cyrus Ferguson, and Albert Leo Cyrus, and many nieces and nephews.

Charles graduated from Jesuit High School, served in the Coast Guard, and worked for the Times Picayune from 1959 to 2003 upon his retirement. He was a big fan of sports, especially the New Orleans Saints, LSU, and the New York Yankees. He was also a big fan of his grandchildren and spent most days providing that much needed daycare for his working children. We know he enjoyed his time with them very much.

Later in life he moved to Inspired Living in Kenner where he remained until his passing. He made many friends and participated in committees. He enjoyed the events held there with his family and friends. His friends are quoted as saying, “We fit a 20-year friendship into a 2-year window".

He was the best and he will be missed tremendously

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Friday, February 16, 2024 beginning at 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Boulevard in Metairie. A Memorial Mass will begin at 11:00 AM and interment will immediately follow at St. Louis Cemetery No.3 in New Orleans.
