On the morning of April 23, 2023, Barbara Bordelon Pflug passed away after a six-week battle with an aggressive cancer. And Heaven is a better place because she is there. Barbara was the beloved daughter of the late Elvadine and Frederic Bordelon, Sr. She was the loving sister of two brothers, the late Ronald Bordelon (Barbara) and the late Frederic “Baby” Bordelon (Jacquelin). She was 84 years young.
She leaves behind the absolute love of her life, Robert “Bob” K. Pflug, M.D. Barbara and Bob met at the age of 13 and 15, respectively, and were never apart thereafter. They were married for 64 years and served as an inspiration and shining examples of devotion to their five children: Cynthia P. Kehoe (Patrick, Jr.), Lori P. Bacques (Mark), Steven F. Pflug (Elizabeth), Brian K. Pflug (Margaret), and the late Jeffrey R. Pflug.
Barbara is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, Kristen E. Kehoe, Stephanie K. Pitcairn (Michael), Rebecca K. Thompson (Warner), Adam P. Kehoe, Elizabeth G. Kehoe, Jessica B. Worden (Matthew), Taylor M. Bacques, (fiancée Bianca Stuhldreer), Kathryn P. Chappetta (Michael), Nicolas S. Pflug (Krickett), Alexandra P. Wynn (Sawyer), Isabella Pflug, Madalyn Pflug and Juliet Pflug.
She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Grayson Pitcairn, Stella Pitcairn, Steven John Chappetta, Olivia Chappetta, Madison Chappetta, Annabelle Worden, Vivienne Worden, Sadie Wynn and Clover Pflug.
Barbara was a proud graduate of Redemptorist High School and remained close to many of her high school classmates. She enjoyed cards, casinos and lunches with the ladies of “Group Therapy” as well as her “Medjugorje Group.” Barbara was a devout Catholic who was a woman for others. She lived the Golden Rule.
We will miss Barbara at our many family gatherings. We will miss her at trips to the beach and her love of Las Vegas and “The Beau.” We will miss taking her out to eat especially when after every meal she said “this is the best food I ever ate.” We will miss her taking care of her soulmate, Bob. Simply put, we will miss her at everything forever.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend visitation on May 1, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Angela Merici Church, 901 Beverly Garden Drive, Metairie, Louisiana, with a Mass to follow at noon.
In lieu of flowers, please consider Masses or donation to Bridge House or St. Michael’s Special School. A private burial will be held at a later date.
