Barbara Jean Chapman

Barbara P. Chapman quietly passed away April 16, 2022, at her home in Metairie, LA at the age of 81. She was born August 28, 1940, in New Orleans, LA to the late Albert J. and Winona Mary Courtade Pfeiffer.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Gary Chapman and her brother, Glenn A. Pfeiffer. She is survived by her sons, Craig F. Ricks Sr. and his wife Tina of Metairie, LA., Albert J. Ricks of Long Beach, CA, and Geoffrey L. Chapman and his wife Yi of Metairie, LA, daughter, Donna L. Ricks of Metairie, LA, four grandchildren, Craig F. Ricks Jr, Rosalyn R. Himmaugh, Kaylee M. Ricks and Cameron N. Ricks, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Barbara graduated from Nichols High School in the class of 1958. After high school, she was a homemaker and worked primarily in the service industry, as a waitress at the St. Charles Avenue restaurant and later as a bartender at Tony Angelo’s. In addition, she also worked as a bookkeeper at the Louisiana Club. She loved pets and especially adored her late dog, Zoey, who passed away in December of 2020. She was also an avid library user, and enjoyed reading murder mysteries in her free time, as well as watching crime genre films and shows.

A remembrance service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Metairie, LA. Visitation will be held from 11AM – 1PM with a blessing to begin at 1PM.
