Peggy Ann Latimer was born on December 9, 1935 in Carter County, Oklahoma to Cecil Latimer & Lucille Colclasure. She was the eldest of three children, who grew up in Detroit, Texas. She graduated from Detroit High School, Class of 1954. Peggy then attended Paris Jr. College. She played ladies basketball during high school and college. Peggy married Charles Lee in 1958 and they had three children together, Warren, Sheridan & John. She worked as a banker at Bank of America for ----- years. When she had free time, Peggy enjoyed reading murder mysteries, and traveling with her family. One of her favorite places to be was Port Aransas. The family would go there as often as they could. Peggy was a very involved mother. She was always the “room mom” for her children’s elementary classes, bringing yummy cupcakes and treats. She also coached Sheridan’s soft ball team. Peggy also enjoyed gardening, quilting. She was a member of the Mesquite Garden Club and the “Sew what’s” Quilting Club. She was very “artsy fartsy”. She could pretty much do any kind of needle work, such as sewing, quilting, appliqué, cross stitching, crocheting. Her quilting club did a lot of volunteer work and donation of their beautiful quilts. She was also enjoyed listening to the music sensation, Celtic Woman. Peggy retired from Bank of America after over 18 years of employment. Peggy was an active member of her community. She conducted tours at the Historic Opal Lawrence House in Mesquite, Texas for the last two years. As part of her retirement, she was able to travel a little more. She enjoyed going on quilt tours to Amish country or bus tours with friends. Peggy was a private woman, strong willed, cared for others; a woman who didn’t like to ask for help. She valued her dignity, did not use vulgarity. As a woman of faith, Peggy was a member of Lake Pointe Church - Town East Campus in Mesquite for the last 17 years. She was a coordinator of ushers and greeters, assisted during the Vacation Bible School and helped with the new members workshops. On Friday, June 20, 2014, Peggy Latimer Lee was called Home. She was greeted in Heaven by her late husband of 35 years, Charles Lee; her parents Cecil & Lucille Latimer. Her life and legacy will continue to be remembered and celebrated by her children: Warren Lee and his wife Carol of Mesquite; Sheridan Wood of Mesquite, and John Lee of Spring; her grandchildren: Justin Lee of Mesquite, Caleb Wood of Austin, Daniel Wood of Mesquite and Alexandria Lee of Spring; her brother Joe Latimer; her sister, Linda Banks; and many more nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Christian Care Center for taking such good care of Peggy.
