Her early years were in Chandler Texas and then Oak Cliff area of Dallas, attending South Oak Cliff High School. During these years, the family spent most of their free time in church activities which is where she learned to play the piano as her mother did. She could read music or play by ear. At 17 she eloped and married A.C. Grant. After marrying she attended beauty school where she obtained her beauticians license. At 19 she gave birth to Teresa Ann. 16 months later gave birth to Carri Denise. 5 years later came Robin Renae. In the 70’s she worked for Sears Catalog Department. In the 80’s she worked in accounting for Olan Mills Photography and eventually she and A.C. opened their own business ACT 1 in Corsicana.
Pat’s lifelong obsession and love of bowling began in the 60’s. Bowling was an activity she enjoyed consistently for decades and was usually a member of a league all through the years. Anyone who knew her knew bowling was a PRIORITY in her life until her last days. She and A.C. enjoyed bowling, boating, horses, family cookouts and gatherings and eventually traveling. Later in life one of their favorite pastimes was meeting their best friends (and family members) Tommy and LaRue in the Blue Ridge Mountains for vacations yearly. Many of her paintings were from what she saw while on these mountain trips. She painted many beautiful oil paintings which are cherished by her family. Pat was of that generation that knew how “to do” for themselves taught by the generation before them. She could cook, sew, make clothes, quilt, oil paint and garden.
She enjoyed years of girl trips with the family, playing cards, dominoes and board games (especially Pollyanna), cheating where and when she could! She ALWAYS made us laugh!
DID I MENTION ELVIS PRESLEY? Elvis was usually playing on the stereo and later years in her car. She had everything Elvis! Calendars, clocks, records, and more. Every Christmas, Elvis. He was played and danced to as was many of the 50’s singers were, but she had her favorite.
With that said, she will always live in our hearts and be remembered for how she lived her life, her amazing sense of humor, her beautiful smile, her giving nature and her love and devotion to her family. There will NEVER be another Patsy Lou!
A memorial gathering for Patsy will be held Friday, May 24, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Anderson Clayton Gonzalez Funeral Home, 1111 Military Pkwy, Mesquite, Texas 75149.
