Louis Ray Collins

Louis Ray Collins Sr., age 70, passed away on October 20, 2022, in Mesquite, TX. He was born May 19, 1952, in Monroe Louisiana to JD & Johanna Collins. Louis was raised in Crowville Louisiana and attended & graduated from Grambling State University in 1975.

Louis was a Staff Sergeant in the US Army. He served 16 years and was a part of the Iran – Iraq war.

He married Celia Collins in 2017 but were together for over 25 years and they shared 6 children together.

He was an Environmental Tech at The Veteran’s Hospital of Dallas where he worked/served 19 years total.

In his spare time Louis enjoyed spending time with family, enjoyed all music. Danced and played with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved going to the lake.

His family and friends will always remember him as a happy and full of life, jokester, loved all kids was outgoing, loving, and adventurous.

He is preceded in death by his siblings: Stanley Collins, Joy Patterson, Charles Collins, Edward Collins, Joann Collins his daughter: Nikki Myrick and parents Johanna & JD Collins.

Sisters: Pricilla Gray (Vernon Gray), Zola Smith (Raymond Smith), Fannie Mae Hardy, Jessie Collins, and Mary Doyle.

Children: Nikki Myrick, Louis Collins Jr., Stephanie Collins & April Collins

Step- children: Naomi Wright & Corina Lopez

Grandchildren: Ricky D. Myrick Jr., Jalan Myrick, Savanna Myrick, Sayra Myrick, Devante Collins, Shekinah Collins, Ephraim Collins, Sunday & September Collins, Jesus Narro, Julissa Gonzales, Johnny Gonzales, Skyla Velasquez, Jasmine Gonzales, Cassidy Mendoza, Kayla Lopez, Abella Lopez, Terriannah & Savvy Wright.

Great grandchildren: Kameron Collins, Jaylen Jr. & Jordan Cole, Johnny Gonzales Jr.

A visitation for Louis will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Anderson-Clayton-Gonzalez Funeral Home Chapel, 1111 Military Parkway, Mesquite, Texas 75149. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 1111 Military Parkway, Mesquite, Texas 75149. A committal service will occur Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
