Larry Dwayne Self

Larry Dwayne Self, age 76, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024 in Dallas, Texas. He was born August 6, 1948 in Dallas, Texas to Loyd Jefferson and Ethel Mae Self. Larry was raised in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Mesquite High School in 1966. He married Janann Lunceford in 1968 and the couple had one daughter. Larry worked as a police officer for the Dallas Police Department for 20 years. After retiring from the DPD, Larry taught at Texas A&M for many years, but he was not done yet, he then went to work at 3L Harris Technologies where he worked for the last 21 years.

In his spare time Larry enjoyed raising German Shepherds; volunteering at Warriors Sworn to the Cross, training new chaplains for the Texas Department of Public Safety and spending time with his family. His family and friends will always remember him as a generous, thoughtful, loving man who loved his family and God.

Larry is preceded in death by his wife, Jan; daughter, Andrea and his parents. Left to cherish his memory is his brother, Ron Self and wife, Kathy; sisters, Vickie Cline and husband, Ernie, Donna Marroquin and husband, Frankie and Christy Self; aunt, Wanda Hindmarsh; as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews and many loving friends who were like family.
