September 7, 1935 – November 6, 2022
Frances Uvonne Stovall Dewberry was born September 7, 1935, in Dallas, Texas, to Jesse James and Frances (“Fannie”) Burk Gaston Stovall. Uvonne grew up in the Dallas area and attended Adamson High School. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, James A. Stovall, in 2013; and her grandson, Larry Rector, in 2016.
On July 3, 1953, Uvonne married William Edward (“Ed”) Dewberry. They lived in Texas all their lives, and for 46 of their 69-year marriage, they lived in Mesquite, where Uvonne worked as a secretary for the Mesquite Independent School District for twenty-two years. The Dewberrys were blessed with three lovely daughters. Uvonne valued family togetherness, camping with friends, and church activities. Besides her devotion to family, Uvonne selflessly devoted time to volunteer work.
Ed and Uvonne were lifelong members of the Church of Christ. She will be remembered for her sweet, kind personality and petite beauty. She was a Bible-believing, Bible-reading, Bible-practicing Christian whose favorite scripture was Psalm 103.
Uvonne is survived by Ed, her beloved husband for 69 years; her sister, Norma Sue Ratliff of Lindale; her daughter Susan Rector, son-in-law, Jim Rector, and grandson, Luke Rector, of Forney; her daughter Debbie Faires and son-in-law, Larry Faires, of Mesquite; grandsons, Tyrel Faires and wife, Carrie, of Pflugerville, and Bryan Womack and wife, Vanessa, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and her daughter Julie Clark, son-in-law, Mickey Clark, and granddaughter, Meredith Clark, of Springfield, Missouri.
