Rose J. Nicosia

Rose was born in 1937 in the charming Sicilian town of Aragona. She moved to Rockford in 1953. There, Rose met the love of her life, Domenick R. Nicosia, from Siculiana, Sicily.

Rose was a hair stylist for many years. She was also a passionate cook of traditional Sicilian dishes and a devoted family woman. Rose and Domenick raised their sons, Joseph and Vince, in Rockford before following them to Mesa in 1983, where they worked, married and started families of their own.

After Rose retired, she enjoyed being a member of the Sunland Village bocce team and the Red Hat Society, but her favorite pastime was spending time with her family.

Rose is remembered by her husband of nearly 60 years, Domenick R Nicosia; her sons, Joseph and Vince; and six grandchildren. Joseph’s family includes his wife, Silvia, and children, Marcella, Giuliana, Domenico and Sofia. Vince’s family includes his wife, Rhona, and children, Amy and Natalie. Rose was cherished throughout her life by her siblings Sam, Marie and the late Vincent and Leah.

Visitation will be held at Mariposa Gardens in Mesa Thursday, February 16, 2017, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mesa Friday, February 17, 2017, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Mariposa Gardens.
