Roberto Avila

Beto was a Vietnam/Cold War veteran of the United States Army where he served from 1976 - 1979. He was deployed to Germany serving as a guardian of the west side of the Berlin Wall. Beto was honorably discharged in 1979.

After his service, he returned to El Paso and married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Alarcon Avila, in 1979. During their 45 years together, the couple had two children and six grandchildren.

As a Fire Captain with the El Paso Fire Department, Beto was a hero to many. Beto served the community of El Paso for 28 years (1983 – 2011).

Beto enjoyed restoring classic cars including a 1966 Mustang Fastback, 1967 Ford Bronco, 1982 Corvette, 1971 El Camino, 1954 Chevy pickup, and 1955 Chevy. During his retirement, he traveled Arizona and the U.S. with the Roadrunners Motorcycle Club, and enjoyed flying remote controlled airplanes. Beto most enjoyed spending time with his family whether he was helping with household projects, going to car or airplane shows, taking them on camping and fishing trips, or just hanging out watching football.

Beto is survived by his father Antonio Avila Jr., two brothers and 5 sisters, wife Patricia Alarcon Avila, son Nicholas Avila (Krystal Avila), daughter Corina Kasior (Robert Adam Kasior), grandchildren Julian Antonio Avila, Carmen Isabella Phelps, Isaiah Nicholas Avila, Elias Adan Avila, Emi Celeste Avila, and Thaddeus Beto Adam Kasior. He is preceded in death by his mother, Emma Avila.

Rosary: 10:00 A.M.

Mass: 11:00 A.M.

Burial: 1:30 P.M.

Reception: 3:00 P.M.

A Rosary for Roberto will be held Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Parish, 1244 S Power Rd, Mesa, AZ 85206. A memorial mass will occur Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 1244 S Power Rd, Mesa, AZ 85206. A committal service will occur Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 2929 E Pinnacle Peak Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
