Richard(Dick) and Hila Whiting. He grew up in Florida, served his country in the Navy, and in
1971 moved to Pennsylvania after meeting the love of his life, his wife of 52 years, Betty.
Dick and Betty, along with their daughter, Kim, moved to Largo, Florida in 1978,where they lived
until 2017 when they moved to Mesa, Arizona to be closer to family. In Florida, Dick and Betty
made many life-long friends, and had recently made a trip home to connect with many of them.
Dick was a people-person, attracting friends wherever he went. He was a man of many and
varied talents, working as an auctioneer, a radio disc jockey and later as a print estimator for a
large national corporation.
In Arizona, Dick enjoyed watching his Tampa Bay Buccaneers, spending time with friends and
especially being near his daughter Kim and son-in-law Mark Giddings, and grandsons Marcus
and Derek Giddings.
In 2022, he took a memorable trip to Tampa Bay where he was treated as a VIP, getting to meet
Tom Brady and other Buccaneers players.
Dick lived life to the fullest; he brought immense joy and much laughter to all who called him
friend. He loved to share stories about his experiences with his many friends in Mesa, who
became like extended family to him.
Dick left this earth on Friday, June 16, 2023. His best friend, soul mate, confidante, and
adventure partner, wife Betty, was at his side, as she was throughout the life they built together.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, and his two grandsons.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.AdvantageMelcherRoses.com for the Whiting family.
