Michael was born on May 7, 1947 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Veronica (Schumer) Sieverding. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1965 and St. Cloud State University in 1969. He subsequently joined the Air Force as an officer navigator and attended the Air Force Navigation School at Mather Air Force Base in Sacramento, California. He served during the Vietnam war stationed in the Philippines and flew C130’s as a navigator. Proudly he attained the honorable title of Major, USAF before military retirement in 1989. He then worked in the navigator simulation training field until his full retirement in 2010. A fellow navigator stated that…"His contribution in service to his Country in the Air Force arena is immeasurable. The training community will forever be in debt for his leadership in improving training systems; particularly highly complex with angle flight simulator visual systems”.
Michael is survived by his wife of 25 years, Pat Widder; also, three children, Joe Sieverding (Christine) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kristine Sieverding Greenlaw (Jonathon) of Palmetto, Florida, and Michelle Sieverding Blackburn, (David) of Berthoud, Colorado. He had 5 grandchildren: Jeffrey, Chase, Natalie, Greta and Saoirse and 1 great grandchild. His siblings include Karen (Bob) Ament, Sue Rademacher, Pauline (Alan) Sieverding Lefcourt, and Jayne (Peter) Sieverding Schipperijn.
