Lester Gardiner Bishop, of Mesa, AZ passed away, June 6, 2021 at the age of 96. He was born March 20, 1925 in Westhampton, NY to Frank Capron and Alice [Howell] Bishop. Lester proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was stationed in Guam. He attended Electrician School in Chicago and worked for Honeywell, retiring after 28 years. In his younger years, he enjoyed traveling the country in his travel trailer, visited all 48 states in the continental US, and later took a cruise to Alaska. During his older years, Lester enjoyed playing Bingo and Cribbage and building puzzles. Lester is survived by his children, Kathy Thompson, Steven and Teresa Bishop, David and Pamela Bishop and Thomas Bishop; grandchildren, Robert Thompson and Sandy Ackerman, Jennifer Bishop, Heather Stanga, Marc and Latosha Bishop, Ashley and Kai Wilson, Adam Bishop, Shawn Stark and John Donnelly; great grandchildren, Kaylene Skidmore, Kalvin Ackerman, Marissah Thompson, Aurora, Olyviah, Fynnlie Bishop and Caden Stanga as well as a great great grandchild, Serenity Ackerman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Alice Bishop; daughter, Carol Donnelly and grandson-in-law, Michael Stanga. Lester will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
