‘Jack ’was born in Oak Park, Illinois and attended the Chicago Latin School, where he excelled in sports. After graduation he went to Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut to study Economics. It was there that he met and married his wife of 69 years, Carolyn. His first job was at a bank in New Haven, Connecticut, where he further developed his understanding of the financial world. In October 1969 he joined the John Hancock Insurance team working in Germany and England, selling life insurance to the American military. On return to the US in 1979 he settled in Sandwich, Massachusetts and became certified in long term care, and in 2004 he retired and moved to Arizona.
Jack had many interests. He was passionate about automobiles, old and new, but especially Mercedes, and he loved Formula 1 racing. He was a big fan of the Boston Red Sox, (loved going to Fenway Park and sitting in the Monster seats!), the New England Patriots, the Boston Celtics, the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs. He was an Anglophile. He loved all thing English, especially British mysteries, comedies and beer! He had a large and varied record collection and was a great reader; a few of his favorite authors were Daniel Silva, Michael Connelly, Steven King and Arthur Conan Doyle. He loved to travel, home and abroad, often to Germany, and was always planning his next great adventure. He was appreciative of gourmet food and wine and especially of ‘Cal’s’ cooking. He loved animals and his pets were always treated like royalty!
He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn K. Dearinger, two daughters, Laurie A. Dearinger and Susan L. Dearinger, son-in-law, D’Arcy Trask, his ‘other brother’ Harold Yelverton, his sports buddy Rick Dragoni and Lucy
