
85, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away on October 7, 2013. He was born on January 29, 1928 to John Scullion and Elizabeth McGuckin Scullion in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. James served in the US Marine Corps and the US Army from 1945-1953. He also had a career with the US Federal Government as a Communications Analyst with the National Security Agency (NSA), Department of Defense in Fort Meade, MD for 38 years. On July 16, 1955, James married Betty Joe Rose. Resided with family in Germany and Japan from 1963-1968, Laurel, Maryland from 1969-1976, Aurora, Colorado from 1977-1998, and Mesa, Arizona from 1998-2013. James was a proud member of Knights of Columbus and he also enjoyed coaching youth sports. Two of his favorite hobbies were golfing and traveling. James is survived by his daughters, Patricia Scullion-Allen (Mark) of Silver Spring, MD, Kathryn Scullion of Laurel Maryland, Karen Scullion of Chandler, Arizona; son, Michael Scullion of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; grandsons, Brandon Scullion and Bradley Scullion of Highlands Ranch, CO; and sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Reardon of Wilmington, DE. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 10:00 – 11:00 am, and services will follow at 11:00 am at the St. Mary of the Mills Catholic Church, Laurel, Maryland with Father Kevin O’Reilly officiating. Burial will follow at the Maryland National Memorial Park Cemetery, Laurel, Maryland. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of the Valley, 2020 E Woodsite Ct., Gilbert, AZ 85297-7339.
