Ella Gray was born July 23,1924 near Auburn Nebraska to Frida and Edward Pulwer. She was the youngest of 8 children. Her father was from Germany and they spoke both German and English in the home. She went to a country school until 6th grade and then went to school in Auburn and graduated from Auburn High School. She went to college for one year to be a teacher in the country school. But instead of being a teacher she went to Hebron Nebraska to live with her sister. In Hebron she worked at the air base (WWII) where she met and married Rex Gray. They had two sons. Randy (Electrical Engineer) who lives in Tempe Az. and Steve Gray (owned his own glass company) who lives in Broken Arrow, Ok. She has 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.
After they were married Rex and Ella moved to Kearney Nebraska. Rex was a state farm agent and Ella was his secretary for a short while and then she worked part time in a jewelry store. After Rex retired, they became snow birds between Nebraska and Arizona. Ella lived in Fiesta Park, Mesa Az. for 34 years. While in Fiesta Ella stayed very busy. She did ceramics, crafts, played golf, bridge and line danced. She also played Bridge and Bingo.
Ella loved to travel and took many cruises with her friends at Fiesta. From the Mexican Riviera, Panama Canal, Hawaii, Catalina Island, and down the California Coast. She also loved to go shopping and spend times with her friends.
Ella eventually moved to Fellowship Square and spent several years there with her new friends. From there she moved into a Private Care Home and was there until her death on 11-18-19.
She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
