Dorothy Elinor Warner, 96, of Gilbert, Arizona passed away on September 23, 2013. Dorothy was born in Cranford, New Jersey in 1916. She moved to South Carolina in the 1940’s and brought her two beautiful girls into the world there. Dorothy moved back to New Jersey in 1963 till she made her final move to Gilbert, Arizona in 2001 to be close to her family. Dorothy’s family owned a small corner candy and newspaper store since 1905 which she took over after the passing of her brother and father. She was very involved in two society groups, climbing all of the chairs of the Daughters of American Revolution and being a member of the Rebecca Organization. During Dorothy’s spare time she enjoyed playing bingo, dancing, crocheting, and listening to music. Dorothy Elinor Warner leaves behind her two daughters Joyce Warner and Diana Melahn (Douglas),as well as her granddaughter Stephanie Melahn. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Charles Harris and Anna Warsinski, brother Charles Harris Jr., and her husband Alvin Warner. A visitation for Dorothy will be held Monday September 30, 2013 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and again on Tuesday October 1, 2013 starting at 9:00 am for a short visitation followed by a 10:00 am service at Mariposa Gardens Funeral Care 400 South Power Road Mesa, Arizona 85206. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery in Mesa, Arizona. Dorothy had a love for life, was the sweetest and most loving mother and grandmother with compassion and generosity to family and friends. Dorothy was truly loved by all and will be greatly missed. Memories of her will last forever.
